Maxim Galkin reads Lo scarrafone by Korney Chukovsky

“Once upon a time, in the heart of the city, there was a huge library in a building called Brera. One day the library began to read.”

Maxim Galkin is one of Russia’s most popular linguists, comedians, imitators and television anchormen. He comperes the weekly children’s talent show Best of All.

Kornej Čukovskij (1882 – 1969) wrote tales with animals as the lead characters in very popular verses for children. His first fairy story in verse, The Crocodile, was published in 1916. Even though his stories were written before the October Revolution, they remained on the list of “works not subject to distribution or commercialisation in bookshops” until 1981 because they were considered anti-communist and slanderous by the Soviet Union.
